Crescent Yoga studio in Altadena

I am a yoga instructor and co-owner of Crescent Yoga in West Altadena.  What I offer students is the result of years of studying, moving, and learning.  My classes provide an avenue for awakening connections between mind and muscle and for remodeling imbalances in the body.  If you’ve been to other yoga classes, some of what we practice will feel familiar (think vinyasa and hatha yoga), but we may explore movement in ways that feel new.  My classes are technical and challenging with a focus on functional movement, increasing mobility, and building strength.

I have been practicing and teaching yoga for over a decade. I am also a runner and former sixth grade teacher, hold a masters degree in nursing, and love all things yoganatomy. When I’m not contemplating biomechanics I can be found working in the yard, running at the Rosebowl, or drinking margaritas.

Testimonials

Carrie is spectacular at recreating her in-person yoga class through an online medium. I'm grateful to continue my practice with her and benefit from her attention to detail, knowledge of biomechanics, creativity, and heart.

Carrie’s classes have been a wonderful break to my stay-at-home life. She was one of my favorite instructors at YogaRock, so it was a no brainer to try her online classes. I can only imagine how hard it is to be funny and engaging when talking to an iPad, but she’s fantastic and does a great job of making you feel like you are in the studio. Her classes don’t feel like intense workouts while you are doing them but by evening every muscle we worked is speaking to me. I am looking forward to the day when I can take her classes in person again!

The reason I keep returning to Carrie's classes is that her prompts are concise and purposeful.  She creates each class with the intent of helping her students' practice grow safely while improving strength. She plans all of her classes to improve her students' foundation, not just with regards to yoga principles, but also as it pertains to achieving a more stable and balanced body.

Carrie is an excellent teacher and has helped me bring my practice to a place where I can focus on challenging myself to new levels but never sustain an injury from pushing too hard.  At the same time she places a huge emphasis on working at your own level and offers multiple ways to hold a pose for the beginner to the very advanced and all levels in between.  She's the very best yoga instructor I've ever had.

When I was a member at my local yoga studio, I was able to take Carrie's yoga classes when she substituted for the regularly scheduled teacher.  I always left wanting more.  I enjoyed the strength I felt following her classes.  Now, since I am subscribed on her Vimeo account, I am able to take her classes all the time, any time I want to. My body and mind are grateful for Carrie's commitment to her students.

I have 2 words for you: Carrie Meadows. She is the reason I go to Yoga Rock twice a week. If you're looking for a technical, safe, and mindful practice, look no further. Her sequences will guide you out of your comfort zone to where you are doing poses that you never thought you could do, but in a comfortable way (if that makes sense). She will always watch and correct you, which is so important to me. I had been having chronic hip pain for about a year before I came to Yoga Rock and Carrie's class has been a huge part of my recovery. I've seen more improvements in the last 6 months than with any PT I had been doing (And trust me, I support PT). Under her guidance, I'm getting my strength and confidence back. Injuries are stressful and at least in my case, having two doctors recommend hip surgery was just as hard emotionally as the daily physical pain. I'm not 100%, but I feel lighter and more balanced for the first time since 2014.
